Weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate hospitality events and large family gatherings all share the same challenge: children need dedicated, professional care while their parents are occupied with the event around them.
Unlike childcare in a family home, event childcare takes place in busy, unfamiliar environments where timings matter, large numbers of adults may be present and circumstances can change quickly. A ceremony does not pause because a child is unsettled. A wedding breakfast cannot simply stop while a childcare issue is resolved. Parents, planners and venues need confidence that the children are being cared for professionally while the event continues around them.
The KLCA Wedding & Event Childcare Specialist Programme is for childcare professionals and entrepreneurs who want to understand how childcare can be planned, built and delivered professionally within weddings, celebrations, hospitality environments and other events.
You may already know how to care for children — what is likely to be new is understanding what changes when childcare is delivered inside an event environment, where you may be working alongside parents, wedding planners, venue teams, caterers, photographers, suppliers and other professionals while caring for several children across different ages and needs.
That’s where this programme comes in.
The programme covers both sides of Wedding & Event Childcare: the childcare itself, and the business behind it.
On the childcare side, you’ll learn how to prepare for and care for children within busy event environments; plan for mixed ages, babies, routines and individual needs; manage arrivals, handovers and authorised collection; assess the childcare space; prepare for allergies, medication and emergencies; understand safeguarding and professional boundaries; plan staffing and supervision; manage transitions and headcounts; and respond professionally when circumstances change during the event.
You’ll also explore what professional event-day delivery actually looks like — from preparing the venue and briefing the team through to Handover-In, caring for children across different phases of an event, Handover-Out, incident recording, complaints, follow-up and service recovery.
On the business side, you’ll learn to build the service itself — deciding which Wedding & Event Childcare services you want to offer, understanding your market and potential clients, creating your Provider Profile, developing packages, pricing your services, preparing your business and supplier documents and understanding the regulatory, insurance and compliance questions that may apply to your particular service.
You’ll also learn how work can reach you through different Client Routes — including parents, wedding planners, venues, organisations and other childcare providers — and how to market your service, approach potential clients, respond to enquiries, assess whether a booking is right for you and move an appropriate enquiry from first conversation through to preparation, professional delivery and follow-up.

Build Your Service as You Learn
This isn’t a programme where you simply attend classes and collect notes.

The full programme is 12 specialist sessions across 6 modules, available in two ways:
For Individual Learners
The complete Specialist Programme is delivered through private 1-to-1 live virtual training with a KLCA trainer.
The programme is structured as six private 2-hour appointments — one per module — allowing the sessions to focus directly on the Wedding & Event Childcare service you personally want to develop while receiving individual guidance throughout your learning journey.
Across the programme, you will work progressively through the different stages of developing and operating your service rather than treating each subject as a separate topic.
For Organisations
KLCA also delivers the programme as a private organisational cohort.
Organisations can commission the Wedding & Event Childcare Specialist Programme for their own learners, participants, childcare professionals or aspiring childcare entrepreneurs.

Pay-as-you-go learners follow the same six-module programme in sequence.
You can progress through the programme at your own pace and pay for your private training as you go. This gives you the flexibility to pay as you progress rather than committing to the full programme fee at the beginning.
