Become a Film Set Chaperone Specialist
Children appear across film, television, commercials, theatre productions, advertising campaigns, digital content, live events and other entertainment environments. Behind every performance is a child who still needs appropriate care, supervision, protection and someone focused on their welfare while the production is happening.
A Film Set Chaperone is there to help protect that child within a working production environment — an environment that can involve unfamiliar adults, changing schedules, waiting periods, location moves, long production days, costume and make-up, performance pressure and many moving parts happening at once.
The KL Childcare Academy Film Set Chaperone Specialist Programme is for childcare professionals and aspiring chaperones who want to understand not only what the chaperone role involves, but how to prepare themselves professionally to operate within film, television and wider entertainment settings.
You do not need previous film-industry experience.
You may already understand children, safeguarding, education or childcare. What is likely to be new is learning how those skills need to operate inside a production environment — where the child, the production schedule, licensing conditions, professional boundaries, risk, communication and documentation all need to work together.
That is where this programme comes in.
The Programme Covers Both Sides of Film Set Chaperoning
The programme develops both your professional chaperone practice and the business and operational systems behind the service.
On the Child Welfare and Professional Practice Side
You will learn how to understand the Film Set Chaperone role and where responsibility begins and ends; support children of different ages, needs and personalities. You will also learn how to work professionally alongside parents and guardians, production teams, assistant directors, coordinators, crew members, tutors and other people involved in the child’s day.
On the Business and Professional Setup Side
You will learn how to build your own Film Set Chaperone service — deciding what you can realistically offer, the types of productions and bookings you may want to work on, your availability and travel boundaries, and how your professional service should be structured.
You will also learn how to approach potential clients professionally, respond when an enquiry comes in, identify what must be checked before accepting a booking, prepare for the production day and take a booking from:
Enquiry · Assessment · Confirmation · Preparation · Delivery · Handover · Records · Follow-Up
By the end of the complete pathway, you will understand how a professional Film Set Chaperone service can be:
understood · planned · built · marketed · booked · prepared · delivered · recorded · reviewed
Build Your Chaperone Service as You Learn
This is not a programme where you simply attend classes and collect notes.
Throughout the programme, you will gradually build the practical foundations of your own Film Set Chaperone service. The aim is for you to finish understanding not only what a Film Set Chaperone does, but how the different parts of a professional chaperone service fit together.
